Abu Ahmad ibn Jahsh : ウィキペディア英語版 | Abu Ahmad ibn Jahsh Abu Ahmad ibn Jahsh was a companion of Muhammad. His original name was Abd, but as an adult he was generally known by his ''kunya''. A verse of the Qur'an, Q4:95, was written about his situation. ==Background==
He was the son of Jahsh ibn Riyab, an immigrant to Mecca from the Asad tribe,〔Muhammad ibn Ishaq, ''Sirat Rasul Allah''. Translated by Guillaume, A. (1955). ''The Life of Muhammad'', p. 116. Oxford: Oxford University Press.〕 and Umama bint Abdulmuttalib, a member of the Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe and an aunt of Muhammad.〔Muhammad ibn Saad, ''Tabaqat'' vol. 8. Translated by Bewley, A. (1995). ''The Women of Madina'', p. 33. London: Ta-Ha Publishers.〕 Hence Abu Ahmad and his five siblings were first cousins of Muhammad. Jahsh had made an alliance with Harb ibn Umayya,〔Bewley/Saad vol. 8 p. 33.〕 and the family remained under the protection of the Umayya clan.〔Guillaume/Ishaq p. 116.〕 Abu Ahmad married Abu Sufyan’s daughter, Al-Faraa,〔Guillaume/Ishaq pp. 214-216.〕 and they had at least two sons, Usama and Abdullah.〔Bewley/Saad vol. 8 p. 81.〕 Abu Ahmad was blind, and he “used to go all round Mecca from top to bottom without anyone to lead him.”〔Guillaume/Ishaq pp. 214-216.〕
